Love them or hate them, no garden will ever be free of slugs and snails. When you realise that there will be an average of 200 slimy slithers in every cubic metre of soil, not to mention the snails!
Tell- tale signs:
- Slime or silvery trails on leaves and stems.
- Irregular holes in juicy leaves, seedlings and soft new growth
- Holes in bulbs, tubers and corms
- Most damage will be noticed after damp weather & in the morning (slug & snails are active during the night.)
Plants particularly susceptible:
Hosta, delphinium, dahlias, sweet peas, tulips, lettuce, seedlings, young shoots at ground level.
